Add Phosphorus After Compost and Before Planting

Renew Growth in Garden Plots

Triple super phosphate is a conventional
granular fertilizer  15lb @ $18.20
You purchased a good quality compost and mixed it in your raised beds. If your raised beds were productive last year then you added a 1 inch layer of compost and mixed it 8 to 10 inches deep.

Or maybe your raised bed was not as productive last year as it was in previous years. Then you added a 2 inch layer of compost to the top of the soil and mixed it to the same depth.

In gardening, compost is king! It makes raised beds productive.

You had two choices regarding compost; Viragrow Compost or BF Compost.

Starting New Garden Plots

Or maybe you constructed new raised beds and filled them with a ready-made soil mix. We can't speak for the others but Viragrow soil mixes are rich and dark and contain no reject sand. Viragrow soil mixes are extremely productive.

Bone meal is an organic approach
toward adding phosphorus  4lb/15lb @ $9/$23
For raised bed gardening or vegetable gardening you have three choices; Premium Garden Soil Mix, Tomato Lady Soil Mix and Rejuvenate Soil Mix. Premium Garden Soil and Tomato Lady Soil Mixes use Viragrow Compost and Rejuvenate Soil Mix uses only BF Compost.

Now What Do You Do?

If your compost levels are adequate you will not need to do much except plant and watch it grow. How do you know if your compost levels are adequate? Use your garden trowel. If you are garden trowel pushes easily into your raised bed, you are ready to plant.

Add Phosphourus. Even though your raised beds are rich, it is still a good idea to add phosphorus to
the row or the backfill around transplants at the time of planting. Phosphorus helps root growth for seedlings as well as transplants. Adding phosphorus improves the routing of seedlings and transplants in raised beds.

You have two options for adding phosphorus; conventional or organic. Viragrow carries both conventional phosphorus  fertilizers as well as organic phosphorus fertilizers.

20 lb @ $16.00
And still another old-time approach is to use ammonium phosphate which adds both nitrogen and phosphorus to the soil. Like triple super phosphate and bone meal it is
mixed into the soil where the seeds are planted or in the backfill used around transplants.

Viragrow Delivers!
