Tomato Leaves Curling Might Be Normal. Don't Spray or Pull the Plant!

Tomatoes have it rough this time of years. Some have it harder than others. It is very tough to diagnose what problems they are having but it is usually a combination of irrigation, insects and diseases. Before
you go and run out to buy a fungicide, make sure that is the problem. Let's look at the curling of leaves on tomato and why this happens.

Of course we want you to buy Viragrow products but we want you to buy and use them for the right reasons.

This is leaf curl during the heat on Big Boy tomato. It is also common on Beefsteak and Floramerica.

This is a physiological disorder common to these varieties and heightens during the heat. Don't pull them out or spray for disease! It is normal.

Compare this to Early Girl tomato which does not display this type of disorder as much. It can still get some leaf curl during the heat but not as much as Big Boy.

Early Girl tomato growing side by side with Big Boy and not demonstrating nearly the same amount of leaf roll as Big Boy.
